Scratchy Bottom – situated in rural Dorset – came second to Shitterton (also in Dorset) in a 2012 poll for “Britain’s Worst Place Name”. Also on the list were Crapstone in nearby Devon, Brokenwind up in Aberdeen and Sandy Balls in Hampshire.
