Let’s not get into Louis Armstrong, Chet, Miles, Dizzy etc… Or indeed Black Dyke Mills, Grimethorpe Colliery or HM Royal Marines. Am I allowed to include orchestral recordings and the more classical of genres? Okay, could be here a while. A loooong while. Oh jeez, there’s no Bowie, or Prince, or…
And the most recent album up there? Kings Of Leon – Only By The Night, which was recorded 12 years ago in 2008. Wow!
I do own more recent albums, but alas, albums aren’t quite what they used to be. Instead of telling a story, taking the listener on a journey, they are just a compilation of all the artists’ recent hits, put together as an “album” to satisfy those who still believe in them. And to make a few bucks, no doubt.
There’s a very long article here, I have quite strong views on albums and their importance, but I’ll save that one for another day.
